The following real estate tidbits are provided by the Real Estate Digest:

LANDSCAPING UPS SELLING PRICE: Sale of homes with top-notch landscaping brought 5 to 6% higher sales prices than those with tidy but not special yards AND as much as 9% higher sales prices than those with sub-par yards. Moral of this story is that an investment in landscaping appears to make a real difference!

PER THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BUILDERS: Their survey indicated 8 of 10 home buyers preferred a traditional single-family home in the suburbs rather than a similarly priced smaller townhome closer to the city. Seems the longer commute was worth it in exchange for the more spacious home and larger yards.

A ROSE BY ANY OTHER NAME: A nationwide survey found 11,380 people named "Smith" purchased homes last year, making it the most common last name of home buyers in the country. Next most common names were Johnson, Brown, Jones, Williams, Garcia, Davis, Rodriguez, and Lee.
